Since 2012, I've used this space to post creative experiments using the inspiration and insight gained from daily life and, at times, escape from daily life. Enjoy.

Phone Call Interrupted
1/25/14
11x15 collage on paper
11x15 collage on paper
| Phone Call Interrupted |
Today's collage reflects some of my thoughts on the nature of phone calls that I seemed to keep having with various people this past week.
Never knowing what I'll get on the other end of the line, a point of growth for me is having the strength to interrupt the crazy on the other end of the line and retreat to the calm, quiet, peace that I've been trying to cultivate in my life instead. I've been trying to recognize more quickly when people are in a situation that they feel passionate about, and know that sometimes it's a situation they need to be passionate for their personal life lessons- but not something I need to be sucked into with them.
I had to hang up and, while my blood pressure returned to normal, repeat the mantra...
"I AM not moved by things that I hear or things that I see," from Christina Lunden. Thanks, Christina, for the alternative response to stressful conversations.

Day 33 Release the phone
033:365
11/02/12
Louise
Hay affirmation:
“I release all that is unlike love and joy in my mind. I move from the past
into the new and fresh and vital.” (snoring)
| Day 33 Release the phone |
Inspiration
exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal: Use pens as your
material/inspiration today. Draw with
them, use them as construction material, or …?
Media: Sharpie pen sketch from May 2012, catalog/magazine photos,
matte medium, glue stick.
Time: 30M
Comments: I drew this sketch back in May after a particularly hectic day at work when my phone kept ringing and ringing. The figure jumping through hoops at the bottom of the collage is a good symbol for how I felt that day. On days like that, when things are unlike love and joy, I have to consciously have to remind myself to stop and breathe. I move from the past into the new and fresh and vital.
