Repeated past Panda

1/27/14
11x15 collage on paper

Repeated past Panda
Ever feel like you're in a scenario that keeps repeating... over and over and over? I've been experiencing some of this at work and home lately, and keep having to catch myself and say 'Wait, I've already done this before. What did I learn last time so I don't have to have the same outcome again this time?'

Today's collage is a nod to the Universe to signal that maybe I'm learning after all.  Who better to represent the experience of learning from hard knocks than a cute and cuddly, but black-eyed, Panda bear?

To quote Louise Hay, "All is well.  Everything is working out for my Highest Good.  Out of this situation, only good will come."

House of Perception - The Back of My House

10/4/13

As a treat-to-self and celebration of the culmination of my 365 Day Project,
I found a meetup group for creatives in the Dallas area (Express Yourself Artistically) and joined a class called,

We made a 'house of perception' based on the five senses, using several intuitive exercises and a guided meditation.  Great day and several fun, talented and artistic women in class.   Artfully led by Rosemary.

Here's my final collage from that day.

Back of House

The Back of My House
During class I found a hand-made sticker with flowers, a sun, and my name on it. Since there weren't names on any of the other materials we had to work with in class, I figured it was "meant to be" and used it for my house.  Found out later it was made by our instructor, Rosemary's, sister during another art class... prior to her sister's passing.  For a moment it was melancholy in the room, but then I felt delighted and privileged for happening across such a precious item.  I get to enjoy a colorful symbol of light and life, and Rosemary got to have a good memory of her sister and their time together.

Here's another collage from that day.

Sense of Intuition

Intuition Attic
This room represents the intuitive attic in my house.  It has a window to nature and an outline of one of my favorite flowers- the sunflower.  I used pine needles and an oak leaf from my neighborhood as a reminder to get out and enjoy the natural world, even if some days nature is nothing more than a dog walk with my spouse in the neighborhood.

Here's another collage from that day.

Sense of touch

Room of touch
This room in my house signifies tactile experiences and a reminder to feel life as I live it.
I used both shiny and soft fabrics, a spongy colorful eraser, a row earring backs for tactile experiences.  Also used the color violet as a reminder that some of things we touch or that touch us are more spiritual in nature than physical.

Room of taste
This room in my house is about eating more vegetables, and turning the traditional food pyramid and Standard American Diet on its edge.  Each day is a new start with healthier eating habits.

Sense of Hearing

Room of hearing
This room in my house is about the sounds of creation during my 365 Day Collage Project. Dogs snoring at my feet and keeping me company as I made collages each day.  Louise Hay and Noah Scalin keeping me on track with my daily project plan. Voices from my workday carrying into my 'moving meditations', as I worked at my collage table.  Angels whispering in my ear about what to put on paper and what to throw out.

Sense of Smell

Room of smell
This room in my house is about my learning journey over the past year related to essential oils, health and well-being.  And how we are each our own best healer.  Love the uplifting feelings and peace, and calming that comes with citrus smells.

House of Perception - Room of Sight

10/4/13

As a treat-to-self and celebration of the culmination of my 365 Day Project,
I found a meetup group for creatives in the Dallas area (Express Yourself Artistically) and joined a class called,

Here's another collage from that day.

Sense of Sight

Room of Sight
This room deals with family of origin and how memories of childhood do not need to hold me any longer as an adult.  Happy ladybugs are making their way across my life as I let go of old skeletons, hermit crabs, and secrets from the past.

House of Perception - The Front of My House

Here and the following several posts are my collages from that day.

The front of my house
This collage has a tiled roof, like my own house, and a coin on it that says "Altered 1187".  One of our exercises in class was to learn that 118 stands for "your positive and optimistic thoughts are manifesting waves of prosperity and abundance" and the 7 means "you're on the right path, keep up the good work."  When I blindly drew that coin, I took it as a message from Spirit that this 365 Day Collage Project was a good start, but is not fully completed in me.

The front of my house also features a butterfly on the coin that signifies rebirth and transformation (there are more of these throughout the other rooms of my house).  The butterfly almost covers the words "out of this world" on the dark blue band.  I liked thinking about art and collage being an expression that is out of this world at times (or perhaps Divinely guided).

Day 362 Countdown to Success

09/27/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Everything I touch is a success.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a rainbow from everyday objects.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Watercolors

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:   Today's affirmation is fun to think about as I approach the last few days of my year-long collage making project.  Starting to ponder on what may be next for me after Day 365.  Good to know that Everything I touch is a Success!

Day 361 Healthy choices

Day 361 Healthy choices
361:365
09/26/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Today I make healthy choices that support and fulfill me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with bleach to make something by taking away color.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Glue stick, Sharpie

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:  Today's healthy choice was not to breathe bleach fumes, so I decided instead to think about reasons one might have a need for bleach... Kitties and spilled wine.

Day 360 Seeing only Good

360:365
Day 360 Seeing only Good
09/25/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Only good lies before me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Use an internal organ as your inspiration today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Glue Stick

Time:   1H:40M

Comments:  I realize eyes aren't really internal organs, but as 'windows to the soul', I'll count them for today's collage.  Only good lies before me.

Was listening to an educational program on essential oils as I worked today, and heard how they can be beneficial for improving vision... in particular vision after 40.  Definitely need to give oils a try.

Day 359 Life is a mirror

Day 359 Life is a mirror
359:365
09/24/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“My life is a mirror.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a city out of objects you have on hand.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Watercolors, Sharpie

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:   I used photos of the city of Dallas skyline that I had on hand for today's collage.  Also included dandelion seed pods, adrift in the wind and artfully placed on the side of large, boring, square building begging for something beautiful on its blank outer surface.  I like the way the shape of the dandelion seeds mirror the shape of the iconic "ball" atop Dallas' Reunion Tower.  Art imitates Life imitates Nature.

Day 358 How Soon Progress?

Day 358 How Soon Progress?
358:365
09/23/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I Am progressing on my spiritual path at the pace that is just right for me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create the illusion that time has stopped and something or someone is frozen mid-action.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  The tiger cub in today's collage was caught in the act of swatting a fountain pen, just as it was about to write some profound answer to the questions I have about the pace of progress on my spiritual path.

Day 357 Power to change

Day 357 Power to change
357:365
09/22/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I have the power to make changes.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something natural look digital, pixilated, binary, etc.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  45M

Comments:   The dog in today's collage looks like he just may have the power to make changes.

Day 356 Bedtime stories

Day 356 Bedtime stories
356:365
09/21/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I rest well.  I sleep peacefully, and I awaken with joy.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a new book cover for a favorite book.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Trace paper, Acrylic paint

Time:  1H

Comments:  I love the creative mind that came up with the idea of making paper sculptures out of the insides of children's story books.  The Alice in Wonderland piece in today's collage came from a feature in REAL SIMPLE magazine.  Might have kept the artist up a few nights getting it just right, but awakening with joy at the end results.

Today's affirmation is one that I wish were true for me every day, but until then, a good bedtime story might help.

Day 355 Willing to release

Day 355 Willing to release
355:365
09/20/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am willing to release my fears.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:
Take two things that don’t go together and find a way to make half of one and half of the other fit together into one new thing.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Today's collage is a reminder that I am willing to release my fears from childhood... and ugly furniture.
