Day 356 Bedtime stories

Day 356 Bedtime stories
356:365
09/21/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I rest well.  I sleep peacefully, and I awaken with joy.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a new book cover for a favorite book.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Trace paper, Acrylic paint

Time:  1H

Comments:  I love the creative mind that came up with the idea of making paper sculptures out of the insides of children's story books.  The Alice in Wonderland piece in today's collage came from a feature in REAL SIMPLE magazine.  Might have kept the artist up a few nights getting it just right, but awakening with joy at the end results.

Today's affirmation is one that I wish were true for me every day, but until then, a good bedtime story might help.

Day 206 Sundown surprises

Day 206 Sundown surprises
206:365
04/24/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Forgiveness, tolerance, compassion.  I move forward without hesitation.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:
Look at the sky after the sun goes down today and make something inspired by what you see.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Bow the Dog book images, Glue stick, Watercolors, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:15M

Comments:  Got home from work after the sun went down today to find the long-lost fence installers in my yard working on the staining of the new wooden fence.  Since we didn't know they would be working today, found my scared puppies huddled with their little knees crossed inside the house... wondering why strangers were in their yard.

Forgiveness and tolerance.

Decided to take them for a walk to calm their nerves.  Beautiful evening.  Encountered a rogue Pug wandering the neighborhood.  After a couple uncertain moments during the obligatory canine greetings, we moved forward without hesitation.

Compassion.

Day 191 Macaroonspiration

Day 191 Macaroonspiration

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I get attention in positive ways. I am secure. No one threatens my individuality. I am at peace.”  (skin)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use sugar as your medium or inspiration today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:15M

Comments:  Fell in love with the photograph of coconut macaroons in March's Real Simple magazine.  The photo came with a recipe, but just looking at it carries a measure of its own satisfaction.  The lightly toasted strips of coconut are a sweet delight to the taste buds... and the eyes.
I am at peace.

Day 106 Thrifty freedom

106:365
01/14/13

Day 106 Thrifty freedom
Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am willing to set myself free.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Go to a thrift store and buy something to work with today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Matte medium, Template ($.59 from Goodwill, pkg.6), Sharpie, Tracing paper

Time:   2H

Comments:  Checked out the new Goodwill store on my way home from work today.  Found a set of templates I was able to use.

The main subject of this piece was a collage-style page from REAL SIMPLE magazine that caught my interest last year (May 2012 issue).  The bird on her shoulder appears to be singing a song about setting him/herself free.
