Home Remedy

3/9/14
11x15 collage on paper

Home Remedy

Today's collage is an acknowledgement that, some days, the best thing to recharge one's batteries is to sleep in and supplement the usual morning routine with health-promoting herbal remedies and immune-boosting essential oils.

House of Perception - Room of Smell

10/4/13

As a treat-to-self and celebration of the culmination of my 365 Day Project,
I found a meetup group for creatives in the Dallas area (Express Yourself Artistically) and joined a class called,

We made a 'house of perception' based on the five senses, using several intuitive exercises and a guided meditation.  Great day and several fun, talented and artistic women in class.   Artfully led by Rosemary.

Here's another collage from that day.

Sense of Smell

Room of smell
This room in my house is about my learning journey over the past year related to essential oils, health and well-being.  And how we are each our own best healer.  Love the uplifting feelings and peace, and calming that comes with citrus smells.

Day 360 Seeing only Good

360:365
Day 360 Seeing only Good
09/25/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Only good lies before me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Use an internal organ as your inspiration today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Glue Stick

Time:   1H:40M

Comments:  I realize eyes aren't really internal organs, but as 'windows to the soul', I'll count them for today's collage.  Only good lies before me.

Was listening to an educational program on essential oils as I worked today, and heard how they can be beneficial for improving vision... in particular vision after 40.  Definitely need to give oils a try.

Day 255 Lucky sweet orange

Day 255 Lucky sweet orange
255:365
06/12/13
Louise Hay affirmation:
I am bright and smart and I can learn anything.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a good luck charm.

Media:   Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, Greeting card

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  Today's collage features a few elements that make me think of things that are bright and smart.  The color orange, orange the fruit, lit light bulbs, checkerboard prints, and delicate pollen stems on orange flowers.  The angel represents prayer, and connection to Spirit as the source of all good things, including luck.

The oranges in this collage and the harp playing angel also remind me of a recent Essential Oils class that I attended.  The presenter was a musician who plays harp when she's not sharing oils with others.  Learned more about the benefits of citrus and sweet orange oils, and had a chance to appreciate them in a new way.

Day 217 Cherry blossom hound

Day 217 Cherry blossom hound

05/05/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I know I am worth healing.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create flip-book animation in the corner of a notebook or book.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Calendar photos, Mod Podge

Time:  45M

Comments:  Today's collage is in honor of my dog, Cleo, who has a sore paw.  I've been doctoring her with essential oils to clear up the inflamed area, which her sensitive nose finds somewhat off-putting.   Deep down, though, she knows she's worth healing.

Day 214 Unlimited potential

Day 214 Unlimited potential

214:365
05/02/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
I have unlimited potential.
I rejoice in my unlimitedness.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use toothpicks as your main material or inspiration today.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Watercolors

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  There are some unique qualities to a year-long, daily project.  One of which is that, some days, you just don't feel like it... (I couldn't come up with any inspiration related to toothpicks today.)

Decided to plow through my flagging inspiration and focus on unlimited potential instead.   Potential to me hints at a myriad of possibilities, represented by street signs pointing all different directions.

The rose reminds us that essential oil of rose has the highest vibrational frequency of all the essential oils and may possess unlimited possibilities for healing body, mind, imagination and expanding unlimited potential.

The "imagine" mosaic with flowers was from a fabric ad in Interior Design magazine and represents the unlimitedness of the imagination.

Day 126 Lemons and forgiving

126:365
Day 126 Lemons and forgiving
02/03/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “It is easier for me to forgive than I thought.  Forgiving makes me feel free and light.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Make something that can fly.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine and catalog photos, Matte medium, Tissue paper

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:   Listened to an interesting podcast on Lemon essential oil as I sat down to work on today's collage.  In addition to generally smelling fresh and clean, it has a multitude of health-giving qualities.  It's benefits are both emotional (uplifting and improving concentration) and physical (clearing of toxins in the liver- the seat of anger and unforgiveness).   Forgiving makes me feel free and light, just like the scent of lemon.

Just an fyi... Lemon's been known to have properties that are:  antitumoral, antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, astringent, anti-inflammatory, immune stimulant, diuretic, digestive, expectorant, calming.  Diffusing lemon oil can even clear pneumonia according to Heather A. Howell on the audio program.  Who knew?
