Home Remedy

3/9/14
11x15 collage on paper

Home Remedy

Today's collage is an acknowledgement that, some days, the best thing to recharge one's batteries is to sleep in and supplement the usual morning routine with health-promoting herbal remedies and immune-boosting essential oils.

House of Perception - Room of Taste

10/4/13

As a treat-to-self and celebration of the culmination of my 365 Day Project,
I found a meetup group for creatives in the Dallas area (Express Yourself Artistically) and joined a class called,

We made a 'house of perception' based on the five senses, using several intuitive exercises and a guided meditation.  Great day and several fun, talented and artistic women in class.   Artfully led by Rosemary.

Here's another collage from that day.

Room of taste
This room in my house is about eating more vegetables, and turning the traditional food pyramid and Standard American Diet on its edge.  Each day is a new start with healthier eating habits.

House of Perception - Room of Smell

Sense of Smell

Room of smell
This room in my house is about my learning journey over the past year related to essential oils, health and well-being.  And how we are each our own best healer.  Love the uplifting feelings and peace, and calming that comes with citrus smells.

Day 213 Medical marvel

Day 213 Medical marvel

213:365
05/01/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I bless other’s good fortune and know that there is plenty for all.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something that involves medical supplies or things you’d find in a doctor’s office or medicine cabinet.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  More than simple medical supplies, this collage is more of a commentary on the state of health in the US today, as well as ruminations about architectural design that addresses urban health.

The 1973 National Geographic illustration of an ancient doll wrapped in mummy-like bandages, discovered in 1917, shows a fellow who appears to have undergone medical intervention.  Apparently, our medical dilemmas are nothing new, they're just wrapped in different 'bandages' today.

I added the whispy fabric and lighted butterfly image from a recent Interior Design magazine in the background to represent the soul as its own life force that simply occupies the body for a time.  The soul won't be weighed down by today's medical dilemmas.  There is plenty of optimal health for all.

Day 151 Matters of heart

Day 151 Matters of heart
02/28/13

Louise Hay daily affirmation:   “Deep at the center of my being, there is an infinite well of love.  I now allow this love to flow to the surface.”

Inspiration exercise from Noah Scalin’s 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with crayons.  Mold them, melt them, grate them, color with them, or ?

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Mod Podge, Watercolor, CrayPas Oil Pastel Crayons

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Have had some medical testing done this past week that has brought the topic of heart health to mind.  Couldn't think of any organ deeper at the center of my being than the heart.  With the time that I'm spending lately listening to various thoughts on spiritual healing, and considering the deeper meanings of Louise Hay's affirmations, I know physical health and spiritual health must be related.

The crayon drawing here is inspired by an image I found in a magazine.  Didn't dawn on me till I was cutting the paper for this collage that the hand touching the heart only has four fingers.  I went with it anyway.  Perhaps it's off just enough to suggest that matters of the heart and spirit are not in human hands alone.
