Day 339 View from a frog's belly

Day 339 View from a frog's belly
339:365
09/04/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I rejoice in what I have, and I greet the new with open arms.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create something that’s only visible from one specific angle or location.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Enjoying the view from this 1972 Nat Geo picture of a red frog's belly, which is perfectly matched in color by random sea grasses and coral in some other part of the world.  Then eerily mimicked in a modern day wire box structure from Interior Design magazine in 2013.  I rejoice in the bright colors of nature and the ability of humans to recognize and borrow from it to create new viewing angles.

Day 331 Ocean flower

Day 331 Ocean flower
331:365
08/27/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “The ocean of life is lavish with its abundance.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a flower or other plant out of everyday objects.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  The flower in today's collage has petals made from a Nat Geo picture of an abundance of fish, with a center made of a yellow sea creature.

Day 323 Releasing all

Day 323 Releasing all
323:365
08/19/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I release all fear and doubts.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with only music media: old cd’s, records, cassettes, eight-track cartridges, or reel-to-reel tape and/or their cases.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, National Geographic magazine photos, The Etude magazine record player advertisement, Watercolor, Catalog photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  Mixed images of record players, headphones, and undersea coral that looks like scary ears for day's collage about releasing all fear and doubts.  Little more dark and abstract than some of my other efforts, but it seems to work for the theme and for my mood today.

Day 268 Supermooned

268:365
Day 268 Supermooned
06/25/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I feel at one with all of life.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use sand as your medium or inspiration today.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Ribbon

Time:  50M

Comments:  This weekend's Supermoon put on a awe-inspiring show for people around the globe, and made me pause to think about photos of the moon.

I stood outside Saturday night, hypnotized, and tried to capture some magical photos of my own.  Failing miserably in my photographic endeavor, I turned to the tons of photos that have popped up on-line since Saturday night for my follow up enjoyment.   I feel at one with all of life on Earth that also took a moment to check out the Moon this weekend.

The photos featured in today's collage were taken from the point of view of the people standing in the sand of the moon, from a vintage National Geographic magazine.  I paired the lunar landscape shots with some contemporary interior design photos that also possessed lunar qualities.

Day 252 Tiny children

Day 252 Tiny children
252:365
06/09/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I see my parents as tiny children who need love.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work only with natural materials to make something that would not normally be found in nature.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Glue stick

Time:  45M

Comments:  The tiny children who need love in today's collage are from a National Geographic piece on Greenland in Dec 1973.  I love how they're bundled up, have shades on, and are walking with their own purpose through this ethereal space, and through life in general.  My view of parents evolves as they (and I) age.  Would have liked to have known them at this stage in life.

Day 243 Planet stew

Day 243 Planet stew
243:365
05/31/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “My thoughts are creative.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a postage stamp or make something out of stamps.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Postage Stamp

Time:  1H:40M

Comments:  Listened to a couple podcasts regarding a book called Secret Journey to Planet Serpo this week.  Thought provoking if true.  Inspired today's collage featuring an old Nat. Geo. photo of planet Mars... that somehow turned into a tasty bowl of meteor stew?

The postage stamp I chose features view from space of planet Earth and a flying bird, with the slogan "Save Our Air."   Save our air, indeed.

Day 233 Gone 'Biking'

Day 233 Gone 'Biking'
233:365
05/21/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “My friends are loving and supportive.
I give myself permission to be a friend.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a portmanteau (blending of two words to make a new word) and use it.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:   Today's collage features a golden, wire bowl to represent love and a bright flower to represent support. The portmanteau (word mash-up) is a bit of a stretch, but here goes...

Beagle Hiking = "BIKING"

The man carrying his beagle in his backpack is an image from an old National Geographic and struck me as a little odd and charming at the same time.  The dog's company on a hiking/fishing excursion must be supportive to the man, and carrying his dog on his back an act of love.

While the paw on the man's shoulder makes me think the dog is calm, loving, and probably enjoying his/her outing as well.  Nice photo of friends.  I give myself permission to be a friend.

Day 213 Medical marvel

Day 213 Medical marvel

213:365
05/01/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I bless other’s good fortune and know that there is plenty for all.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something that involves medical supplies or things you’d find in a doctor’s office or medicine cabinet.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  More than simple medical supplies, this collage is more of a commentary on the state of health in the US today, as well as ruminations about architectural design that addresses urban health.

The 1973 National Geographic illustration of an ancient doll wrapped in mummy-like bandages, discovered in 1917, shows a fellow who appears to have undergone medical intervention.  Apparently, our medical dilemmas are nothing new, they're just wrapped in different 'bandages' today.

I added the whispy fabric and lighted butterfly image from a recent Interior Design magazine in the background to represent the soul as its own life force that simply occupies the body for a time.  The soul won't be weighed down by today's medical dilemmas.  There is plenty of optimal health for all.

Day 212 Gone fishin

Day 212 Gone fishin

212:365
04/30/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I am at peace.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use the world of fish as your inspiration today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, 1973 National Geographic photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  Crazy week at work and feeling anything but peaceful.  Today's collage is a timely reminder to not let the other goldfish get to me.

Day 153 Gold eyes gliding

Day 153 Gold eyes gliding

153:365
03/02/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “The use of love makes me feel good; it is an expression of my inner joy.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something light seem heavy.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photo, Glue stick, Plaid masking tape, Paper tag

Time:   1H

Comments:  The white owl in this collage was a photo of the day pick from National Geographic's website.  He/she reminds me of a huge cargo jet gliding above the earth.  Or in this case, gliding over a patio garden space.
