Red Dragonfly II (Study)

9/19/14
12x12 acrylic painting

Study of Red Dragonfly

Alight on ivy’s tendril,
glowing red messenger from God.
“It’s time, my child, it’s time.”
Don’t look on me as a chance visitor.
I’m here to deliver a message
from the soul you’ve held so tightly
in your arms and in your heart.
“It’s time, my child, it’s time.”
I’ll fly away for a moment
and let you collect your thoughts.
Then you’ll realize I’m here for a reason.
Red as cardinal gliding on late summer’s breezes.
But cardinal’s message is for another day.
I’m dragonfly, red dragonfly,
Returning to ivy’s perch and looking on with love.
Once again here to tell you,
“It’s time, dear child, it’s time.”

Only Moving Forward

Only Moving Forward
Love the knowledge that, the way kangaroos are built, they can only move forward.  This guy knows it too.

I Am Bird 01

Spent some time working on bird collages this weekend, so this and the next few posts will be about them.

Balancing Priorities

Balancing Priorities
Thinking today at women in workplace leadership roles. Crazy and OCD?  Or perhaps wise and a little misunderstood by others around them?

Still Waiting

9/11/14

Still Waiting
On the 13th anniversary of the September 11 towers falling in the USA, we sit on the brink of new military actions in the Middle East.  How much longer will we wait for light to shine on the corruption, anger, and darkness that is keeping humanity from moving forward?

Ancient History

Ancient History
Thinking about beagles today, and beagle owners from my past.  Turns out, it's a good day for releasing ancient history.

Glass Ceiling

9/8/14
11x15 collage on paper

Glass Ceiling
Walking under the glass the entryway at work today (first day back from a week away) and noticed a hummingbird trapped under the glass portico...Trying for all it had to fly up through the glass, and not making any progress.  My heart hurt for the little bird and I thought, if only he'd take a dip down and under the lip of the overhang instead of up into the glass, he'd be free. Couldn't help wondering what message hummingbird was carrying for me as I watched its plight?

Even the seemingly tireless need to watch their energy stores and resources to be able to enjoy freedom?

An invitation to flex my path as I fly light and strong, and move quickly to align to my true life purpose?

Where is my joy and lightness as I walk into this building today?

Luckily, he was gone when I left for the day, so I'll assume he delivered his message to me and went on his merry way.

Still A Work in Progress

Still A Work in Progress
Spent time listening to Wayne Dyer's Divine Love program this week as I've wallowed in my grief at saying goodbye, and have been profoundly moved.

Consider the Sleeping Lions

9/1/14
11x15 collage on paper

Consider the Sleeping Lions
As I made today's collage with two little dogs sitting at my feet, I know that these are sweet, but numbered days.  It's heartbreaking to watch helplessly as a  dear life is winding down.  I keep thinking about Matthew 6 and how God cares about birds of the air and the lilies of the field.  Surely He cares about sick little dogs too.  For now, she (and Lion who is by my side in my sadness) sleeps soundly.

Hummingbird Moment

8/17/14
5x5 collage on paper

Hummingbird Moment

Have been hearing a lot lately about people I know who've had close up interactions with hummingbirds.  For such a tiny bird, they certainly leave a lasting impression when they pay attention to people.
