Day 273 It works

Day 273 It works
273:365
06/30/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Everything in my life works, now and forevermore.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with, or be inspired by, a tin can or soda can.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Tissue paper, Watercolors, Sharpie, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:25M

Comments:  Today's collage features a new kind of soda in a can.  One whose label affirms that "Everything in my life works, now and forevermore".

Day 272 In the flow

Day 272 In the flow
272:365
06/29/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “There is a rhythm and flow to life, and I am part of it.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Make something inspired by and/or that goes over a hand.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Graph paper, Tissue paper, Sharpie, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  Have been seeing a lot of repeating number sequences lately, so I decided to jot them down when I notice them.  Today's collage shows  some entries from my log of the last couple of weeks.  I like the way the hands appear to be immersed in a field (or ehteric flow) of numbers, as the numbers pass by in their normal rhythm.   Would love to know what the message is, but I know that I am part of it.

Day 271 Apple juice miracles

Day 271 Apple juice miracles
271:365
06/28/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “My life is full of little miracles popping out of the blue.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Add a door where one wouldn’t normally exist.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  The sea gulls in today's collage represent stones set free.
The single door at the bottom of a small building brimming with plant life on its side is a good reminder about the importance of plants in (and on) our homes and in our diets.

I'm in the process of prepping for a gall stone flush over the weekend and have been using a lot of apple juice this week to get ready.  Am anticipating lots of little miracles popping out of the blue very soon.

Day 270 Ice cold beverage

Day 270 Ice cold beverage
270:365
06/27/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I know that every day is only a stepping stone on my pathway.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Work with ice cubes today.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  50M

Comments:  Today was the first summer day over 100 degrees in my area.  Good day to sit in a hallway with a marble floor so polished that it looks like ice, and to enjoy an ice cold beverage.

Day 269 Willingness diagram

Day 269 Willingness diagram
269:365
06/26/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “If I want to be loved as I am, then I need to be willing to love others as they are.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a pie chart, flow chart, Venn diagram, or other business graphic in an unexpected way.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Graph Paper, Sharpie, Glue Stick, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Acceptance of others as they are is a lesson to be learned over and over.  Funny how a lost item will bring out a side of someone that you don't normally see when all things are in place and in balance.

Day 268 Supermooned

268:365
Day 268 Supermooned
06/25/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I feel at one with all of life.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use sand as your medium or inspiration today.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Ribbon

Time:  50M

Comments:  This weekend's Supermoon put on a awe-inspiring show for people around the globe, and made me pause to think about photos of the moon.

I stood outside Saturday night, hypnotized, and tried to capture some magical photos of my own.  Failing miserably in my photographic endeavor, I turned to the tons of photos that have popped up on-line since Saturday night for my follow up enjoyment.   I feel at one with all of life on Earth that also took a moment to check out the Moon this weekend.

The photos featured in today's collage were taken from the point of view of the people standing in the sand of the moon, from a vintage National Geographic magazine.  I paired the lunar landscape shots with some contemporary interior design photos that also possessed lunar qualities.

Day 267 For the love of trains

Day 267 For the love of trains
267:365
06/24/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Love will dissolve pain always.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Recreate a famous work of art using the material and technique of your choice.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Zots, Foam Core, Grapevine Vintage Railroad brochure and tickets, personal photo of New Hampshire train, Monet painting of train depot

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:  Today's collage features a train station painting by Monet (lower right hand corner), along with some personal memorabilia I've collected on the subject of trains.

Seems I have long held a fascination for trains.  The black and white photo of the train engine releasing its steam was on I took many years ago while waiting for a vintage rail line ride into the mountains in New Hampshire.   The ticket stubs are from a more recent excursion on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad in Texas.

Day 266 Gift to Self

Day 266 Gift to Self
266:365
06/23/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Forgiveness is a gift to myself.
I forgive, and I set myself free.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with just corrugate cardboard or cardboard boxes today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  The game of tic-tac-toe is all about trying to set one's game pieces in certain direction and having that direction blocked by another player.

Forgiveness is sometimes like this.  We're going along in life and something or someone comes across our path that blocks us.  We can choose to stay blocked and lose the game (lesson), or we can forgive and move on in a new direction.

The sofa in this collage represents the fact that sometimes it takes some quiet reflection to recognize where we are.  And the green stone earring represents the moment of forgiveness as the jewel that it is.   I set myself free.

Day 265 Woolen temples

Day 265 Woolen temples
265:365
06/22/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “My body is a precious temple.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a unique miniature golf hole in your home or outside and play it.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  Today's collage features several woolly sheep roaming around on this golf course.

Designers usually have a special fondness for wool textiles.  Not only are they naturally fire retardant, but they are also rapidly renewable resources, they breathe, accept dyes nicely, and they have a nice 'hand' compared to some of the newer laboratory fibers that are used in interior design and furnishings today.

What a versatile and valuable fur coat these dear creatures are able to share with us!  Precious temples each and every one.

Day 264 Comfy chairs

Day 264 Comfy chairs
264:365
06/21/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I trust my inner wisdom.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work only with Legos or other building blocks today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Tissue paper, Mod Podge

Time:  45M

Comments:  The building blocks I used for today's collage are made of brick in the form of a lounge chair and large concrete blocks in the form of a mind-crushing attempts to sit at a desk and read or work.  Some days I feel like this...
I've been experiencing it this week in particular in the form of mind-crushing conversations about comfort of the furniture at work.

I trust my inner wisdom to remember that on top of the heavy weights of discontent (that I'm not able to fix for some of my coworkers/clients), there may be a yoga-posing Santa reading or working in a much more flexible and imaginative position.  No furniture required at all.

The dog is looking on to remind us all that tomorrow's Friday!

Day 263 Checkers

Day 263 Checkers
263:365
06/20/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I trust the process of life.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Make your own unique chess or checkers set.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Watercolors, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:40M

Comments:  Today's checkerboard collage features some interesting chairs as playing pieces.  I trust the process of life.

Day 262 Sliced beauty

Day 262 Sliced beauty
262:365
06/19/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Today
I speak up for myself and ask for what I want.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Carve a turnip, an apple, a bell pepper, etc.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  50M

Comments:  This collage features a carved radish.  Radishes are great vegetables, but a little onion-y for my tastebuds.  Today at lunch I stood up for myself and asked my cafeteria server to leave out the onions from my dish. Ta-da!  How easy was that?

Day 261 Cocktails party too

Day 261 Cocktails party too
261:365
06/18/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I let go of all expectations.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Start something, then have someone else complete it today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  Today I started a doodle and finished with someone else's photo of the rest of a lovely sofa, with a cocktail on its arm.  The drink led me to a champagne bottle featuring a doodle of a silly fellow toasting his letting go of all expectations.   Nice finish.  Cheers!

Day 260 Hearts of Texas

Day 260 Hearts of Texas
260:365
06/17/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Everyone
I meet today has my best interests at heart.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   How now brown cow. Work only with brown materials today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Glue stick, Sharpie

Time:  1H

Comments:  Today's collage is a study in brown and iconic Texas images.
I liked the Anniversary flour sack celebrating 175 years of Texas.  Reminds me that I just marked the 7 year Anniversary in my current job.

Since I live and work in Texas, there's a pretty good chance that everyone I meet today is here.  Everyone I meet having my best interests at heart, however, may be more an exercise in belief on my part.  At my job, they call it "assuming positive intent".  Makes a interesting game to observe and wonder in day to day interactions.

Day 259 No bunny needs voodoo

Day 259 No bunny needs voodoo
259:365
06/16/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “My higher self pilots my life.

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Make something that would normally be considered cute and cuddly into something that isn’t.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Tissue paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Glue stick

Time:  45M

Comments:   Stuffed toys are usually cute and cuddly... until you find one in the shape of a voodoo doll with pins stuck in it.  In today's collage, the pure white cuddly bunny represents my higher self.  And the not so cuddly voodoo doll is falling away, since bad luck and ill-intention have no place in a life piloted by my higher self.
