Repeated past Panda

1/27/14
11x15 collage on paper

Repeated past Panda
Ever feel like you're in a scenario that keeps repeating... over and over and over? I've been experiencing some of this at work and home lately, and keep having to catch myself and say 'Wait, I've already done this before. What did I learn last time so I don't have to have the same outcome again this time?'

Today's collage is a nod to the Universe to signal that maybe I'm learning after all.  Who better to represent the experience of learning from hard knocks than a cute and cuddly, but black-eyed, Panda bear?

To quote Louise Hay, "All is well.  Everything is working out for my Highest Good.  Out of this situation, only good will come."

Cardinal Points South

1/28/14
8x10 collage on paper

Cardinal Points South
Today's collage is inspired by the massive ice storm to hit Atlanta earlier this week and the ensuing drama and blame by the people impacted that inevitably followed.

I like that this Cardinal simply sits on its branch, sparkling and glowing in the knowledge that All is Well, and everything is happening exactly as Mother Nature plans.   Anticipating 60 degrees F by this afternoon throughout the South.

Phone Call Interrupted

1/25/14
11x15 collage on paper

Phone Call Interrupted
Today's collage reflects some of my thoughts on the nature of phone calls that I seemed to keep having with various people this past week.

Never knowing what I'll get on the other end of the line, a point of growth for me is having the strength to interrupt the crazy on the other end of the line and retreat to the calm, quiet, peace that I've been trying to cultivate in my life instead.  I've been trying to recognize more quickly when people are in a situation that they feel passionate about, and know that sometimes it's a situation they need to be passionate for their personal life lessons- but not something I need to be sucked into with them.

I had to hang up and, while my blood pressure returned to normal, repeat the mantra...
"I AM not moved by things that I hear or things that I see," from Christina Lunden.  Thanks, Christina, for the alternative response to stressful conversations.

Elephants Know

1/14/14
6x8 (2) collage and mixed media on paper

Elephants Know.1

Elephants Know.2

Today's collage is a 2 piece rumination on the beauty, wisdom and memory of elephants.
I liked the way the sunlight is glowing off the edge of the elephant's ear in the photo. Reminded me of the unique and ethereal nature of these beautiful beasts, and the unique and ethereal nature of the Light.

Color Advice

1/10/14
11x15 collage on paper, miniature pearls

Color Advice
Today's collage is inspired by a hand-written note I found in a box of my Grandmother's effects, that talks about "Colors for Mature Women".  I never knew her to be one that pondered such things, but finding this note gave me new insight into the complexities of grandmothers--- regardless of who our childhood memories told us they were.

Today's collage is a study in blue and green featuring a few of the priorities I've set for the New Year.

Family Tree

1/4/14
8x10 collage on paper

Family Tree
Much like rings inside the trunk of a tree, the lines on the palm apparently tell their own story. Today's collage features a variety of woods that make up and come from trees, as well as a depiction of the three major lines on the hand used by readers of palms.

In the post-Holiday quiet of January, I've had a little time to ponder the relations on my family tree and find them as mysterious as the messages in tree rings and lines to be read in palmistry.

Glam Tree II

12/24/13
recycled costume jewelry on foam cone

Glam Tree II
Today's project was another Christmas tree made from recycled costume jewelry on a 10" tall cone.  Tried to stick with a gold and diamond theme for a little extra glam on this one.
