Day 59 Looking at this life

059:365
11/28/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I now create a life I love to look at.” (eye problems)

Day 59 Looking at this life

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Mix and match.  Work with two materials that generally don’t go together.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, magazine and catalog photos, stickers, glue stick.

Time:   1H:20M

Comments:  Had some fun finding things that don't go together.

Day 58 Free from West Nile

058:365
Day 58 Free from West Nile
11/27/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I willingly release the past.  It is safe for me to let go.  I am free now.” (edema)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Life size.  Make something as big as you possibly can.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, magazine photos, matte medium.

Time:   2H:15M

Comments:  Lots of talk about mosquitos and West Nile virus this year.  Even into November.  Glad they aren't this large in real life.

Day 57 'Tis the season for harmony

057:365
11/26/12

Day 57 'Tis the season for harmony
Louise Hay affirmation:   “Harmony surrounds me.  I listen with love to the pleasant and the good.  I am a center for love.” (earache)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use a disposable plastic bag to create something new today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, plastic treat bag, ribbon, Zots, glue stick.

Time:   1H

Comments:  Started decorating the Christmas tree tonight.  Though, I've never had a light colored tree, I like the one in this picture.  The disposable plastic bag is a disposable treat bag with a butterfly theme, but the wings look a bit like ears to me.

Day 56 Light heaviness

056:365
11/25/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “This moment is filled with joy.  I now choose to experience the sweetness of today.” (diabetes)

Day 56 Light heaviness

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something heavy seem light.

Media:  Magazine photos, scrapbook paper, glue stick, gemstone owl sticker.

Time:   1H:40M

Comments:  The heavy, concrete interiors in this collage are made light by the column treatment and furniture selection.  Much like the heavy construction dump truck is made light by its load of flowers.  Nice reminders that the sweetness of today is a choice.

Day 55 Free the caged birds

055:365
11/24/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I now go beyond other people’s fears and limitations.  I create my life.” (depression)

Day 55 Free the caged birds

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Write an advertising jingle for something in nature (a tree, a bird, a cloud).

Media:  Scrapbook paper, magazine photos, glue stick, ribbon, jewel bead

Time:   35M

Comments:  A poignant image of limitation and fear for me is the picture of a caged bird.  This collage celebrates lifting of depression by releasing the caged birds in our minds.  I now go beyond other people's fears and limitations.

Day 54 Vital dots

054:365
11/23/12

Day 54 Vital dots
Louise Hay affirmation:   “As I release the past, the new and fresh and vital enter.  I allow life to flow through me.” (constipation)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Connect the dots.  Make something only using dots.

Media:  Calendar photo, scrapbook paper, glue pen, glitter glue, Sharpie

Time:   2H:35M

Comments:  Fun with dots.

Day 53 Thankful for apple pie

053:365
11/22/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am willing to change and to grow.  I now create a safe, new future.” (chronic dis-ease)

Day 53 Thankful for apple pie

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something in which the sense of smell is the essential component.

Media:  Magazine and calendar photos, wall sticker, glue stick.

Time:   1H:20M

Comments:  Thanksgiving morning and freshed-baked apple pie are both joys to the sense of smell.  Today, while l spend time with family and experience moments of gratitude for all the abundance of life, what better time to remember that I am willing to change and to grow.

Day 52 The upside of circulation

052:365
11/21/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am free to circulate love and joy in every part of my world.  I love life.” (circulation)

Day 52 The upside of circulation

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work upside down.  Create something in such a way that you have to rotate it 180 degrees to display/see it when it is finished.

Media:  Magazine photos, glue stick

Time:   30M

Comments:  Even working upside down, butterflies are a favorite symbol of circulation for me.  The image of butterflies in the library hints at their ability to move, lighter than air, throughout the space picking up new bits of knowledge everywhere they light.  Can't tell if the butterflies just flew in or out of the glassware in this collage.

Day 51 Wide open arteries

051:365
Day 51 Wide open arteries
11/20/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I choose to love life.  My channels of joy are wide open.  It is safe to receive.” (high cholesterol)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something that would not normally be considered cute and cuddly into something that is.

Media:  Calendar, magazine, and catalog photos, Sharpie.

Time:   2H

Comments:  A rugged cowboy riding  a horse on a wide open prairie is not an especially cuddly image, but this collage depicts him with sweet things he's taking to someone special.

Something about a rugged, tough guy thinking about sweet gestures automatically makes him more cute and cuddly in my book.  He's choosing to love life, and is receiving through the act of giving to someone special.

Day 50 Forgive the whitespace

050:365
11/19/12

Day 50 Forgive the whitespace
Louise Hay affirmation:   “I forgive others.  I forgive myself.  I am free to love and enjoy life.” (cellulite)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Be a minimalist.  Work only with white materials today.  Try working white on white for a real challenge.

Media:  Magazine and catalog photos, feather, glue stick, zots.

Time:   1H:10M

Comments:  I've always loved the design of a classic white interior.  It works at home or in commercial space.  Like the act of forgiveness itself... Fresh, clean, uplifting.
The hard part is resisting the urge to add color when visual texture alone is enough.

Day 49 The feet know

049:365
11/18/12
Day 49 The feet know

Louise Hay affirmation:   “It is safe to see and experience new ideas and new ways.  I am open and receptive to good.” (callouses)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Quantity over quality. Work with a lot of something.  It could be dried grains from the kitchen, a jar of buttons you have in the closdet, or all of your t-shirts.

Media:  Sharpie, inBloom crystal beads, lettering template

Time:   2H

Comments:  Learned through reflexology that every sore spot and every callous on the feet mean something.  Placement of each callous also has meaning.  For me the spot at the center of the balls of my feet are tied to lung function.  Wonder if it's a holdover from my bout of bronchitis this summer, or was it the cause?  Guess I have not been as open and receptive to new ideas and new ways as I could have been.

Day 48 I declare peace and harmony

048:365
Day 48 I declare peace and harmony
11/17/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I declare peace and harmony within me and around me.  All is well.” (bronchitis)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   How tall can you make something that stands up on its own?

Media:  Magazine photos, glue stick, Sharpie

Time:   50M

Comments:  Stacks of fabric samples stand tall in this collage.  I like that the frog intensely stares as he declares peace and harmony within and around me.

Day 47 Breath of fresh daisy

047:365
Day 47 Breath of fresh daisy
11/16/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I love life.  It is safe to live.” (breath)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with flowers- artificial or real, live or dried, picked or bought.

Media:   Magazine photos, flower & glitter stickers, Sharpie

Time:   45M

Comments: My favorite flowers are gerber daisies.

Day 46 Facing the facts

046:365
11/15/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am the  loving operator of my mind.” (brain)

Day 46 Facing the facts
Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Face it.  What can you do with a face- yours or someone else’s?

Media:  Magazine photos, Sharpie

Time:   25M

Comments:  QR codes make up the walls of the cavernous space in the background photo and speak to me about how digitally anonymous we are becoming in today's computer driven world.  The fact that I'm getting two ASPCA magazines in the mail is indicative of computer-generated mailing lists gone afowl.  Luckily the faces of the dogs are enjoyable in duplicate, and my mind is still in charge of the life I choose to live.

Day 45 Tape me up, dawg

045:365
11/14/12

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I freely and easily release the old and joyously welcome the new.” (bowel problems)

Day 45 Tape me up, dawg

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create an image with masking tape or any other kind of tape.

Media:  Masking tape, Sharpie

Time:   2H:20M

Comments:  Another visit from SlowMo, my first adopted basset hound.
