Day 211 Happy Bless & Prosper Day

Day 211 Happy Bless & Prosper Day

211:365
04/29/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I truly believe that we are here to bless and prosper each other. I reflect this belief in my daily interactions.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make up a new holiday for today and create a decoration, food item, or card to go along with it.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Greeting card, Grid vellum, Sharpie, Ribbon

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  My made up Holiday today is "Bless & Prosper Day".  It was inspired by a combination of today's affirmation and an old thank you note that I ran across in my office.

Truth be told, I can't read the signature on the card and don't remember who wrote it... or why.  There must have been something I unwittingly did that blessed and prospered someone enough to take time to send me a card.   And apparently, they returned the favor by sharing a token of appreciation to bless and prosper me as well.  Though I don't remember what that was, it was significant enough for me to keep at the time.

Blurry memories...  guess it doesn't really matter why.  Just that this is a good reminder for how we might try to live with others.  Give and take.  Share and receive.  Interact and express appreciation.  All for one, one for all.

Bless & Prosper sounds like a good enough reason to celebrate with it's own Holiday to me.

Day 210 Bottled enthusiasm

Day 210 Bottled enthusiasm

210:365
04/28/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “All my experiences are part of the richness and fullness of my life.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something inside of a bottle of any size.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  I used the outside of these bottles to make something that reminded me of the colors of milk glass and natural cotton seed pods, reinterpreted in contemporary lines and shapes.  The richness and fullness of life unfolds in atypical ways.

Day 209 Gift-wrapped

Day 209 Gift-wrapped

it's only change.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a package for something that’s normally unwrapped.

Day 208 Inkblot wisdom

Day 208  Inkblot wisdom

208:365
04/26/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I experience love wherever I go.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a Rorschach test-style inkblot print.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine and Catalog photos, Mod Podge, Tissue Paper, Black India Ink

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  For today's collage,
I experimented with several different inkblots and finally settled on the one shown here.

This inkblot  reminded me of an owl's head and also the shape of a mask.  Got to thinking about how experiencing love wherever I go sometimes takes a degree of wisdom, as symbolized  by the owl, and also an ability to see beyond the masks that I and others wear in daily life.

Day 207 Marathon Monday in Southridge

207:365
Day 207 Marathon Monday in Southridge
04/25/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I breathe in the fullness and richness of life.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use paper like it was fabric.

Media:  Photos from baa.org and google images, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Tissue paper, Sharpie

Time:  45M

Comments:  Today's collage is in honor Brown Betty and our caring neighbors/dog lovers, who breathe in the fullness and richness of life.

On Marathon Monday, while we were in Boston, Brown Betty decided to break through the temporary fence in our back yard and run her own marathon in the streets of our Denton neighborhood.

The person dog sitting for us, that happened upon this comical scene as she stopped by for the dog's meal and walk, reported the neighbors had noticed a loose basset and called their daughter to come do something.  Being a lover of bassets, the daughter ran after the dog... and ran, and ran, and ran.  Apparently, she and Brown Betty both had their own race that day.

Eventually Brown Betty decided she was done running and everyone got to catch their breath.   Would have loved to have seen the Southridge marathon.

Day 206 Sundown surprises

Day 206 Sundown surprises
206:365
04/24/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Forgiveness, tolerance, compassion.  I move forward without hesitation.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:
Look at the sky after the sun goes down today and make something inspired by what you see.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Bow the Dog book images, Glue stick, Watercolors, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:15M

Comments:  Got home from work after the sun went down today to find the long-lost fence installers in my yard working on the staining of the new wooden fence.  Since we didn't know they would be working today, found my scared puppies huddled with their little knees crossed inside the house... wondering why strangers were in their yard.

Forgiveness and tolerance.

Decided to take them for a walk to calm their nerves.  Beautiful evening.  Encountered a rogue Pug wandering the neighborhood.  After a couple uncertain moments during the obligatory canine greetings, we moved forward without hesitation.

Compassion.

Day 205 What's for dinner?

Day 205 What's for dinner?

205:36504/23/13 Louise Hay affirmation:
“I stand in truth. I move forward with joy. I have spiritual understanding.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a meal that doesn’t look like what it actually is.

Media:  Magazine and calendar photos, Mod
Podge

Time:  1H:15M

Comments:  Not sure how I made the mental connection between cookies and tomatoes for this meal that doesn't look like what it actually is, but maybe it has to do with the notion that cookies are not "proper" meals.  But they taste good.  And, tomatoes are a fruit of nature that give healthful nutrients to our bodies (much like red berries do to birds in the wild), and they also taste good.

My spiritual understanding is that I love the smell of fresh cookies and fresh tomatoes...  Much like the sniffing dogs positioned around the rim of this unusual dinner plate.
I move forward with joy.

Day 204 In total balance

Day 204  In total balance

204:365
04/22/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am in total balance.  My system is in order. I love life and circulate freely.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Ask someone for a suggestion on what to do today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Today's collage is a study in visual balance without being strictly symmetrical.  My system is in order and I love life in yellow.

Day 203 Eventful week behind us

Day 203 Eventful week behind us

203:365
04/21/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I release the old and welcome the new.”
(bladder)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a map of (or to) a fictional place.

Media:  Boston map, Tissue, Watercolors, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  Today's collage is a map of the downtown Boston area and the shadow of a single marathon runner... releasing the old.  The pink flower represents a welcoming of the new.

Day 201 Seeking only good

Day 201 Seeking only good

201:365
04/20/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I seek only good everywhere.  Right action is taking place.  I am fulfilled.” (kidneys)

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Take something new and make it look old.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Tissue paper, Watercolors, Martha Stewart Metallic Craft Paint

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  I like how the makers of this brand new lounge chair use shape, stitching, and materials to make it look like an old leather baseball glove.

Day 201 Let sleeping puppies lie

Day 201 Let sleeping puppies lie
201:365
04/19/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I assimilate new ideas easily.  Life agrees with me; nothing can irritate me.  I am calm.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Build a pair of eyeglasses.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine  & Eyeglass ad photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  Made it home from Boston last night and woke to breaking news about bombing suspects being located. I couldn't be more glad to be home and away from the disturbing activities of this week. Looking forward to relaxing like the puppy in today's collage for the first time in a week, now that we're out of harm's way.

Nothing can irritate this calm puppy...

Day 200 Life takes care

Day 200 Life takes care

200:365
04/18/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I relax, knowing the wisdom of life takes care of all details.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Save the hair from your next haircut or from your pet and work with it.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine & calendar photos, Mod Podge, Tissue paper, Matte medium

Time:  1H

Comments:   The comically fluffy sheep in this collage relax, knowing that someone will eventually come along and sheer them to lighten their woolen load.  The cat, cozily in wrapped in a fluffy woolen blanket, thanks them for their service.

Day 199 New old glory

199:365
04/17/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I handle all ideas with love and ease.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a flag for a new country or a new flag for your current country.

Media:  Magazine & catalog photos, Newsprint, Tissue paper, Butterfly stickers, Mod Podge

Time:  2H:30M

Comments:  Today's collage is a reinterpretation of the traditional stars and stripes of the USA.

Day 198 Dancing viewpoints

Day 198 Dancing viewpoints

198:365
04/16/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I am flexible.
I welcome other viewpoints.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Diagram a new dance step and teach it to others.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  45M

Comments:  The 'stint' staircase at the Steelcase global headquarters is a dramatic way to consider the design of a standard flight of stairs with cafeteria at the bottom.  The Stint and WorkCafe force one to rethink usual points of view, and turns traditional design up on its end.  Nice job, designer Joey Shimoda.  The dancing mannequins in today's collage enjoy your work.
