Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Create a new birthday song or tradition.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Gem stickers, Patience Brewster catalog photos

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  As I celebrate passage of another year, today's collage features a colorful birthday cake theme, with whimsical faeries lending a hand, and a reminder that "I can shape my own destiny".

Day 363 Creating PEACE

Day 363 Creating PEACE
363:365
09/28/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I Accept Myself and Create Peace in my Mind and Heart.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Extend an existing photograph or painting beyond its current edges.

Media:  Magazine photos, Glue Stick, Tracing paper

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:  Had a couple of interesting meditation experiences this weekend that have me contemplating the Mind and Heart in new ways.

Day 362 Countdown to Success

362:365
Day 362 Countdown to Success
09/27/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Everything I touch is a success.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a rainbow from everyday objects.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Watercolors

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:   Today's affirmation is fun to think about as I approach the last few days of my year-long collage making project.  Starting to ponder on what may be next for me after Day 365.  Good to know that Everything I touch is a Success!

Day 361 Healthy choices

Day 361 Healthy choices
361:365
09/26/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Today I make healthy choices that support and fulfill me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with bleach to make something by taking away color.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Glue stick, Sharpie

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:  Today's healthy choice was not to breathe bleach fumes, so I decided instead to think about reasons one might have a need for bleach... Kitties and spilled wine.

Day 360 Seeing only Good

360:365
Day 360 Seeing only Good
09/25/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Only good lies before me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Use an internal organ as your inspiration today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Glue Stick

Time:   1H:40M

Comments:  I realize eyes aren't really internal organs, but as 'windows to the soul', I'll count them for today's collage.  Only good lies before me.

Was listening to an educational program on essential oils as I worked today, and heard how they can be beneficial for improving vision... in particular vision after 40.  Definitely need to give oils a try.

Day 359 Life is a mirror

Day 359 Life is a mirror
359:365
09/24/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“My life is a mirror.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a city out of objects you have on hand.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Watercolors, Sharpie

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:   I used photos of the city of Dallas skyline that I had on hand for today's collage.  Also included dandelion seed pods, adrift in the wind and artfully placed on the side of large, boring, square building begging for something beautiful on its blank outer surface.  I like the way the shape of the dandelion seeds mirror the shape of the iconic "ball" atop Dallas' Reunion Tower.  Art imitates Life imitates Nature.

Day 358 How Soon Progress?

Day 358 How Soon Progress?
358:365
09/23/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I Am progressing on my spiritual path at the pace that is just right for me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create the illusion that time has stopped and something or someone is frozen mid-action.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  The tiger cub in today's collage was caught in the act of swatting a fountain pen, just as it was about to write some profound answer to the questions I have about the pace of progress on my spiritual path.

Day 357 Power to change

Day 357 Power to change
357:365
09/22/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I have the power to make changes.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something natural look digital, pixilated, binary, etc.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  45M

Comments:   The dog in today's collage looks like he just may have the power to make changes.

Day 356 Bedtime stories

Day 356 Bedtime stories
356:365
09/21/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I rest well.  I sleep peacefully, and I awaken with joy.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a new book cover for a favorite book.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Trace paper, Acrylic paint

Time:  1H

Comments:  I love the creative mind that came up with the idea of making paper sculptures out of the insides of children's story books.  The Alice in Wonderland piece in today's collage came from a feature in REAL SIMPLE magazine.  Might have kept the artist up a few nights getting it just right, but awakening with joy at the end results.

Today's affirmation is one that I wish were true for me every day, but until then, a good bedtime story might help.

Day 355 Willing to release

Day 355 Willing to release
355:365
09/20/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am willing to release my fears.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:
Take two things that don’t go together and find a way to make half of one and half of the other fit together into one new thing.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Today's collage is a reminder that I am willing to release my fears from childhood... and ugly furniture.

Day 354 I claim my power

Day 354 I claim my power
354:365
09/19/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I claim my power and I lovingly create my own reality.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with only candy or chocolate today, wrapped or unwrapped.

Media:  Catalog images, Candy wrapper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Tracing paper

Time:  50M

Comments:  The confident red candy in today's collage appears ready to claim his/her power at work.  While a doubting coworker stands by wondering what it's like to lovingly create my own reality.

Day 353 My body follows sunflowers

Day 353 My body follows sunflowers
353:365
09/18/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I keep my mind healthy and happy, and my body follows suit.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work only with gold materials today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Google images, Van Gogh painting illustration, Magazine photo, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  Something about a big, golden dog sitting below a big, golden sunflower that beckons the eye, the mind, and the body to follow up on healthy and happy lifestyle choices.

Day 352 Dropped like a bad habit

352:365
09/17/13

Day 352 Dropped like a bad habit
Louise Hay affirmation:
“I drop habits that no longer serve me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Design a uniform for a job that doesn’t normally have one.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine and Catalog photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:15M

Comments:  Women tend to wear a lot of uniforms, particularly at work.  Today's collage features a Viking and a vixen, both wearing their uniforms.  One stressed out and frazzled by all the demands of earning her gold coins for the week, the other dressed to kill and hiding behind the facade of feminine expectation in a masculine world.
I drop habits that no longer serve me.

Day 351 Beginning with me

Day 351 Beginning with me
351:365
09/16/13

“Peace begins with me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Add wings, fur, and/or a tail to something that wouldn’t normally have them.

Media:  Magazine and Catalog photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:

Day 350 Peaceful haven
350:365
09/15/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “My home is a peaceful haven.”

Media:  Magazine  and Patience Brewster Catalog photos, Mod Podge, Tissue paper, Watercolors, Acrylic paint

Time:  2H

Comments:  Today's collage features a few greeting card creatures, illustrated by Patience Brewster, that remind me of ways that My Home is a Peaceful Haven.

Day 349 Divinely protected

Day 349 Divinely protected
349:365
09/14/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I Am Divinely protected at all times.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something unappetizing seem appetizing.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:  My idea of unappetizing is an avocado hamburger with a big grasshopper munching on it.  However, I think kitty might have a differing opinion.  Good thing grasshopper is Divinely protected at all times.

Day 348 The color of simple things

Day 348 The color of simple things
348:365
09/13/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I find relaxation, enjoyment, and healing in the simplest things in life.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with a disposable cup you’ve gotten recently.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos of West Elm and Designtex products, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  The cups in today's collage aren't disposable, but I liked the casual, relaxed, and enjoyable feeling they convey about beauty in simple things.

Day 347 Facing good at every turn

Day 347 Facing good at every turn
347:365
09/12/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I know that only good awaits me at every turn.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Add a face to something that normally doesn’t have one.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, 1983 Illustration photos by Folon, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  Knowing that only Good awaits me at every turn is a nice way to live.  No need to worry about trenchcoated characters that show up in the reflections in our glasses, or the fact that the corners of our mouths are chapped by a little dude  paddling his canoe to shore.

Day 346 Unlimited choices

346:365
Day 346 Unlimited choices
09/11/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Opportunities are everywhere.
I have unlimited choices.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a repeating image by folding paper and cutting out the shape of an object or abstract pattern.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Tissue paper

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Today I spent the day in management training for work.
Good day to remind me that in working with and for other people, unlimited choices abound... in how we relate to the world and respond to the opportunities that are presented.

Day 345 Flowers on the table

Day 345 Flowers on the table
345:365
09/10/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I say yes to life, life says yes to me.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Only work with the objects that are already on a table or desk near you today.

Media:  Flower calendar photos, Mod Podge, Watercolor pastels

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  The desk where I work on my daily collage project has a variety of photos and media waiting for the opportunity to be used one day. Today, a small 16 month flower calendar got the call.

Monday, September 9, 2013

Day 344 Constellations

Day 344  Constellations
344:365
09/09/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I release all criticism.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use stars, planets, and other things found in outer space as your inspiration.

Media:  Columnar paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:  Today's collage is a commentary on the upside down nature of my feelings about the feedback I'm getting at work lately, and the pointy-ness of the stars shooting my way.  In a bit of a weird cycle... criticism and people who want to do my job are everywhere I turn.  Vocal and hurtful in their negative feedback, I'm sure there's a lesson in it for me somewhere.  Resilience?  Again... haven't I already had that lesson before?  If every person in life is a mirror of some aspect of self, then I criticize and therefore attract criticism? Or maybe unloving behavior from others is here to teach me to love myself?   I release all criticism, and look for insight in the constellations.

Day 343 No time for boring

Day 343 No time for boring
343:365
09/08/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I have plenty of time.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:  Make something boring seem exciting.

Media:  Calendar and Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Notebook paper

Time:  1H:20M

Comments:  I've often wondered about how something as (typically) boring as solid weave carpet can be made exciting in print ads.  For today's collage, I'm celebrating basket woven textiles in flowery colors, that puppies have decided to climb all over.   Funny how even boring things become exciting through the eyes of a puppy with plenty of time to explore.

Day 342 What didn't happen

Day 342 What didn't happen
342:365
09/07/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am always learning and growing.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create evidence of an event that didn’t happen.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  2H:30M

Comments:  Some say that FEAR = false evidence appearing real. Today's collage is a study in false evidence that can run through one's head as we are in the process of learning and growing... and keeping out of direct sunlight.

Day 341 Plenty for all

Day 341 Plenty for all
341:365
09/06/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I bless other’s good fortune, and I know there is plenty for all.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a functioning mobile.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  Was thinking today about how a lot of time what appears to be good fortune may actually be the result of hard work.  The zebra featured in this collage is a reprint of an Andy Warhol painting.  The space in the living room photo (that features a mobile-type ceiling  light) was the result of someone's design eye and creative vision, after the workmen and trades completed construction on the building itself.  Fascinating world... there is plenty for all.

Day 340 Wherever I go

Day 340 Wherever I go
340:365
09/05/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I experience love wherever I go.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work only with what’s in your pockets today.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Gemstone sticker, Button

Time:  1H:30M

Comments: Today's collage features of few of the things (or thoughts) that I carry around in my pockets on a typical day.

Day 339 View from a frog's belly

Day 339 View from a frog's belly
339:365
09/04/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I rejoice in what I have, and I greet the new with open arms.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create something that’s only visible from one specific angle or location.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:10M

Comments:  Enjoying the view from this 1972 Nat Geo picture of a red frog's belly, which is perfectly matched in color by random sea grasses and coral in some other part of the world.  Then eerily mimicked in a modern day wire box structure from Interior Design magazine in 2013.  I rejoice in the bright colors of nature and the ability of humans to recognize and borrow from it to create new viewing angles.
