As I celebrate the weekend leading up to my Monday birthday this year, I'm celebrating twists and turns that have made up my life and that of the people around me this past 12 months.  Each has challenged, confounded, and confirmed my capacity to believe.  

The Golden Gate bridge image is from an ad in US News and World Report magazine from 2000.

A for Effort

Today's collage incorporates touchpainting on tissue paper as one of its layers.  I noticed about halfway into making this piece that I had what appeared to be a letter "A" in the middle of the page.  I struggled to try to work around it or with it, or to mask it in some creative way.  In the end, I just decided to leave it alone and view it as something that was meant to be.

Today's collage is a note to self that life can be and IS simple and easy. Just need to remember the guilt-free joy of experiencing a piled-high ice cream cone with sprinkles and a cherry on top.   Simple and easy.

After 8 years looking at the same decorative plate hanging over the sink in my kitchen, today's collage is actually a glass tile mosaic that I made from repurposed glass bubble tile and framed in copper flashing leftover from our 2011 home roofing project.  Washing dishes just got more interesting.

Touchpainting turns out to be as interesting in the surprise images that emerge in the final work as anything the artist might have intended to put on the page.   Love that a silhouette of a guardian angel appears to be accompanying a cute guardian llama in this touchpainting collage.
