Red is for Root III Anger

Red is for Root III Anger
Starting my third week of chakra clearing since Reiki I class.  This week I thought I'd focus each day on releasing the emotions that are typically associated with each chakra.

Red is for Root II Red Panda

Red is for Root II Red Panda

Starting the second week of my clearing of a chakra-a-day after Reiki I class and will be continuing to explore each day in collage form.

This week I've decided that I'll also spend some time getting to know Red Panda, as I continue to flush out old and usher in new energy.

According to: http://spiritwalkministry.com/spirit_guides/land_animal_spirits

Red Panda -- Being happiest when the people and community around you is content, introverted but still involved in community ventures, the value of gentleness, tree wisdom, tree related divination, the power of touch, rejuvenation when alone, providing wisdom to a community while remaining apart from it. Studying the healing properties of plants and herbs, play more and worry less.

I've also started reading a book by Susan Cain called
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.
The book landing on my desk this week seems perfect synchronicity for Red Panda.

Red is for Root

8/9/14
11x15 collage on paper

Red is for Root
Took a Reiki I class this past weekend and was told that for the next 21 days I'd be clearing things from each chakra, one each day for 7 days x 3.  In order to help that process along, I've decided to do a collage each day that corresponds with the chakra of the day.  Today is the Root chakra.  Was thinking about base issues of safety and security, anger, and red.

Job Satisfaction

Job Satisfaction

Completed after a long day at work, the simplicity of today's collage doesn't do justice to the steps it took to get there.

Struggled with lack of inspiration on finding a subject matter that might inspire me after a long work day.

Took a lot of trial and error with color and texture, and three different layers of material, to get to a background I could live with.

Felt some frustration at the fact that the work wasn't turning out the way I envisioned in the beginning.

Persevered through multiple temptations to just set the collage aside and start over fresh with something else tomorrow.

No one's making me make collages at night, after all.  Why do it on a day when I'm struggling and inspiration's not coming easily?

...

Uncanny the way that Art imitates life sometimes.

Walking at Twilight

Walking at Twilight

Having visits from unusual animals this week.  So much nicer to see bats outdoors in the neighborhood, as I walk the dog at dusk, than visiting my room indoors. Also caught a glimpse of a wily fox this time, darting between houses, and keeping a low profile.

Commemorating a Visit from Bat

8/3/14

Commemorating a Visit from Bat
Walked into my bedroom last night to find a black bat fluttering around the ceiling.  Dodging the blades of the ceiling fan and generally causing an eerie stir in the house, bats are known to fly around in our neighborhood, but never inside the house.  Still don't know how it got in, but thankful for a spouse with a cloth grocery bag, little fear of creepy creatures, and a soft heart.  Upon capture and release, he said... "they eat bugs".
(p.s. The dog was no help.)

Still feeling a bit unsettled by the whole incident. Wish bats were just a wee bit cuter...  And content to remain outdoors.
