Day 231 Birthday Avenger

Day 231 Birthday Avenger

231:365
05/19/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “My future is glorious.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a new superhero.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Birthday cards, Envelope, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  Today's collage features a bulldog superhero who swoops in on birthdays and conquers one's old self.  A new self is then released to live on until next year's birthday when he/she will undoubtedly be needed to save the day again.  My future is glorious.

Day 230 Potter's wheel

Day 230 Potter's wheel

230:365
05/18/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I know that only good awaits me at every turn.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a container, such as a bowl, bottle, cup, or box.

Media:  Ledger paper, Catalog photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  The containers in today's collage are mostly Global Views catalog images.  I love their vases and glassware.

Though the potter's wheel in the collage is probably not making something as refined as the Global Views vases, it still knows that something good awaits at every turn of the wheel.

Life, sometimes, feels like a rough clay bowl turned on a potter's wheel past the lessons we need to keep learning (till we finally get it), then fired by trials... to eventually end up as a highly refined, and beautiful vessel for good.  I know that good awaits.

Day 229 Bicycling to opportunity

Day 229 Bicycling to opportunity

229:365
05/17/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Today my opportunity for success is unlimited.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with or be inspired by a bicycle or parts from one.

Media:  Magazine photos, Glue Stick, Swizzle stick, Scrapbook paper

Time:  45M

Comments:  Today's collage about bicycles features an Interface flooring ad that I found interesting.  The bicycle is hung on a wall below a piece of Art.  I added the classic Eames side chair in front of it to hint that someone might sit in front of the wall and consider both pieces as one would an Art gallery hanging.   Both are bike and painting are beautiful, functional, sculptural, and worthy of consideration.

The wall of windows that overlooks a bright city reminds us that our opportunities for success are unlimited. We need merely to look out into the world and seek them.

The flamingo is a leftover swizzle stick from my swirl margarita at happy hour at Uncle Julio's in Dallas.  It's there as a reminder that when unique people come together in a spirit of friendship, comraderie, storytelling, and creative exchange of ideas, who knows what might happen.  Even a flamingo may ride a bicycle!

Day 228 Balancing act

228:365
Day 228 Balancing act
05/16/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Opportunities are everywhere.
I have unlimited choices.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Work with the weights of things to create something that’s perfectly balanced on a small point.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:15M

Comments:  Today's collage depicts the weighted dice that can feel like our lives, and the balancing act between the everyday smarts of man and the eternal wisdom of owl.

On the dice and in numerology, the 5 stands for change, which can be a distinctly challenging dimension to balance in life.  The robot fulcrum in the center is wearing some jauntily stacked lamp shades for a belt, and represents the cross between creative whimsy and tech gadgetry that props up our scales and makes us choose how we will balance ourselves.  I have unlimited choices.

Day 227 Up and at 'em

Day 227 Up and at 'em

227:365
05/15/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Life is an adventure, and the Universe is always on our side.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Transform a room into a new environment.

Media:  Magazine and Catalog photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:30M

Comments:  Today's collage feels like a happy transformation of a normally quiet and sleepy room into a springtime dance celebration.
Cherry blossoms and butterfly bedding speak to the idea of transformation.  While the doves and ballerina springing from their sleepytime resting place remind us that life is an adventure.

I'd be lying if I said that every night's sleep has me springing from bed with this much enthusiasm.   It's comforting to know, though, that the Universe is always on our side.

Day 226 Ante up

Day 226 Ante up
226:365
05/14/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “Today I am at peace.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use a deck of cards to make something today, or make a unique playing card, or really challenge yourself and make an entirely original deck of cards.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  40M

Comments:   For today's collage, the oversized playing cards as wall art caught my attention.  The room in the image is dramatic and playful at the same time.  I like the juxtaposition of the crystal chandelier and rugged trunk for a coffee table.  I added the chandelier on its side to reinforce the idea that traditionally beautiful objects can be used in playful and unique ways.

Today I am at peace.

Day 225 Birdhouses

Day 225 Birdhouses
225:365
05/13/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I love life.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make a unique birdhouse.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Watercolors, Mod Podge

Time:  1H

Comments:  Fell in love with the little bird sitting inside his/her round, ceramic birdhouse in this image.  Reminds me how creatures of all kinds can find shelter in the most random of places.

Day 224 There is a solution

224:365
Day 224  There is a solution
05/12/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “For every problem that I create, there is a solution.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Use dirt as your medium or inspiration today.

Media:  Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Waterdcolor pencil, Rhinestones

Time:  1H

Comments:   Was listening to a program on Animal Communicators as I worked on today's collage.  Interesting to think that there are intuitive people around that can speak to animals as clearly as some people can speak to one another.  Ironically, many examples of issues that pets have, physically and emotionally, came out as something created on the animal's response to their human companions.

I found the horse auction ring on the left side of the page an interesting, upscale, venue for trading of animals.  With it's red colored, upholstered seating and diamond studded (added by me) sand ring for the horses to stand in, it speaks to the value that these creatures possess both intrinsically and to people that would bid on them.   Would love to know what the horse is thinking as it stands in this ring.

The sand and glass tubing on the page together reminded me that glass is made from melted sand.
All are one.  For every problem I create, there is a solution.

Day 223 All that I do

Day 223 All that I do

223:365
05/11/13

Louise Hay affirmation:   “I am deeply fulfilled by all that I do.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Create a Mad-Libs  style story.

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge, Sharpie

Time:  1H

Comments:  Today's mad-lib collage carries a sentiment that is simple and straight to the point.  Easily spoken, harder lived.

Day 222 For the love of pie

222:365
Day 222 For the love of pie
05/10/13

Louise Hay affirmation:
“I love and approve of myself.”

Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Make something appetizing seem unappetizing (but still edible).

Media:  Scrapbook paper, Magazine photos, Mod Podge

Time:  1H:15M

Comments:  Meringue pie's are typically quite appetizing.  But there's nothing like the paw of a cat buried deep inside my dessert to make it a little less so.  It's still edible, but...

This kitty still loves and approves of him/herself.

The 1's and 2's on today's collage are representative of some repeating numbers I've been seeing a lot of today.  222 and 2:22, plus 11:11, 1:11, and 111.  Wish I understood why I'm seeing these numbers so often lately.
