Inspiration exercise from 365 Daily Creativity Journal:   Reinterpret your favorite childhood story.

Comments:  Funny how this project is going.   Some days the affirmation of the day and the exercise from the 365 Daily Creativity Journal sync up in ironic ways...Even though all were pre-determined at the beginning of the year-long project with no thought to aligning subjects of one with the other.  I figured, the more random, the better, for sparking creative connections.

Today's affirmation "I have a happy, slender body" just happened to fall on the day where the 365 exercise has to do with childhood stories.  My favorite book as a kid was about an old lady who successively eats a fly, spider, bird, cat, dog, goat, cow and horse.  Would love to see her happy, slender body after all that!?!

Found some interesting graphic interpretations for the nursery rhyme/book on Google images to help illustrate.

There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly,
I don't know why she swallowed a fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,
It wiggled and wriggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a bird,
How absurd! to swallow a bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wiggled and wriggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a cat,
Imagine that! to swallow a cat,
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wiggled and wriggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a dog,
What a hog! to swallow a dog,
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wiggled and wriggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a goat,
Just opened her throat! to swallow a goat,
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog,
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wiggled and wriggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a cow,
I don't know how she swallowed a cow!
She swallowed the cow to catch the goat,
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog,
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wiggled and wriggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a horse,
She died—of course!
